WHAT ARE THE MAJOR NUTRIENTS NEEDED BY OUR BODY ??

 A SUBSTANCE THAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR MAINTAINING LIFE A ND GROWTH IS CALLED A NUTRIENT. THERE ARE 5 MAJOR NUTRIENTS PRESENT IN OUR FOOD - CARBOHYDRATES FATS PROTEINS VITAMINS MINERALS OUR FOOD ALSO CONTAINS DIETARY FIBRES {ROUGHAGE} AND WATER BUT THEY AREN'T CONSIDERED AS A NUTRIENT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE ANY FOOD VALUE . CARBOHYDRATES - GLUCOSE, SUGAR, STARCH ETC ARE E XAMPLES OF CARBOHYDRATES. THE MAIN SOURCE OF CARBOHYDRATES THAT WE EAT IS STARCH, WHICH COMES FROM FOOD ITEMS LIKE POTATOES, WHEAT, RICE ETC. CARBOHYDRATES PROVIDE ENERGY TO THE BODY. FATS - LIKE CARBOHYDRATES, FATS ALSO PROVIDE ENERGY TO OUR BODY.  IN FACT, FATS PROVIDE US TWICE AS MUCH ENERGY AS THAT PROVIDED BY THE SAME AMOUNT OF CARBOHYDRATES. E.G BUTTER, GHEE, MILK, CHEESE ETC. PROTEINS - SUPPLY THE BODY WITH MATERIALS TO MAKE NEW CELLS THAT MAKE OUR BODY GROW AND REPAIR DAMAGED CELLS. CHILDREN NEED MORE PROTEIN THAN ADULTS BECAUSE OF THE RAPID GROWTH OF THE BODY. E.G MILK, CHEESE, PULSES, PEAS, SOYA BEANS E
